Use red G12 in our cars with aluminum heads. G11 is Blue, which is like the green stuff. I wouldn't really recommend useing the green or orange stuff you see in auto stores. I imagine BMW would be the same way if you used the Blue stuff. VW had huge problems with useing G11 And they had a TSB to change all of the VR6 engines to G12 coolant because of the aluminum heads. You likely won't see a problem in yours just by useing improper coolant. Less than that is pretty much okay, and all cars probably have SOME. You should NOT read any more than 0.10 volts DC. Stick a probe in the coolant and one on engine ground. To check it.You just get a volt meter and check that there is no voltage being read from the system. Any vehicle with accessories bolted to the radiator support or to a nearby component is also a good candidate for electrolysis. A poor ground to the radiator's electric cooling fan, or a poor ground from the starter motor and engine block to the battery. Electrolysis occurs when electrical current routes itself through the engine's coolant in search of electrical ground. This can sometimes be inreased by useing imporper coolant for that engine.
Causeing severe corrosion inside the water jackets. Some cars have a tendancy to have an electrolysis problem.
